Highlights

  • Patong beaches is one of Thailand’s most developed, situated along a sweeping bay. It has a variety of bars, discos, restaurants, guest houses, and vendors.
  • Karon and Kata bays are less crowded, but still have all the western amenities you're used to.
  • There are plenty of dive shops throughout the island offering PADI courses and a variety of diving options, including trips to the beautiful Similian Islands to the west.

The nearby beach and tourist strip at Ao Nang are quite popular and easily reachable by hire car. As is the beautiful Khlong Mouang Beach, north of Ao Nang. There are several beaches and bays in the area that you will find more secluded than those inside of Phuket.

Alternatively, you can drive by hire car to Kao Phra Royal Wildlife and Forest is a stunning rainforest that is perfect for hiking.
